Her life

“Searching for Burbuqe Rushiti” is an artistic documentary that pays tribute to the life and legacy of a young and brave Kosovar female war reporter, poet, journalist, author, and a songwriter. The film follows three characters who embark on a search to uncover the hidden truths of Burbuqe's remarkable life and work.

  1. At eighteen

    The documentary begins with Burbuqe's journey as a young journalist, when she captivated her audiences with her early poems on Radio Prishtina.

  2. A voice in two countries

    As her love of storytelling grew, she became a renowned songwriter, journalist and a respected voice in the literary world of Kosova and Turkey.

  3. 1998–1999

    As Kosova descended into war, her courage took her to the frontlines. She reported the news in Turkish to a Turkish news channel in Istanbul, risking her life to bring the world the truth about the conflict and the atrocities committed against innocent people.

  4. Her legacy

    Her legacy lives on through her poetry. The film travels from her earliest poems to her latest, each poem a short fictional movie that invites the audience deeper into the realm Burbuqe inhabited.

A moving tribute to a woman who dedicated her life to the pursuit of the truth, storytelling and love, even in the most challenging of circumstances.
